Texlaxer

In my last post I told you about the relaxer I put in my hair. Well I just wanted to tell you guys that the relaxer didn't make my hair straight the only thing it did was, that it loosened my curl pattern. I removed the weave and I am going back natural. But I am going to let the front grow out slowly. So the relaxer had like a texlax effect. There is almost no difference between my natural hair and the relaxed hair. I don't know why my hair didn't get straight but I am happy it didn't.I am going to try to grow my hair out with the crown and glory method that I brought up earlier in my previous post. That means braids, braids and even more braids. But I am tired of constantly changing hairstyle. So I am giving my hair a rest. I will keep my hair braided and rebraid every 2 months. So wish meluck!!!!

Creamy crack

I had a moment of weakness and bought a relaxer. I had the relaxer sitting in my bathroom cabinet for a month, before I decided to use it. After watching youtube videos, I thought I had enough kwnoledge and skills to maintain my relaxed hair. So I went ahead and put a relaxer in my hair the front is now relaxed while the back is still natural. Why would you ask, would a person do something like that. I installed a weave in the back and left the front relaxed because i don't like the full sew-in look. Besides the afro was not flattering on me and I was fed up with the braiding styles.
I know this blog is called natural sisters and I am still contemplating about whether I should go back to natural or stay relaxed.Sighh I wish that I had stayed strong and kept it natural though because I liked the idea of having an afro.It makes you feel stronger and more secure but only if you're ready for it.

New growth

I have been away for a while. But I am back. I just wanted to post a blog about my new growth. Since I did the big chop my hair has grown tremendously. It is to a point where it seems like my hair grew 2 inches in 2 months. I know that is about average, but when I was transitioning I had about 2 inches new growth and at that point I was natural for almosta year. I was so disappointed I thought my hair didn't grew. But now I understand that it was because I didn't took care of my hair properly. For an example I would just rush the comb through my hair starting at the roots!!! . And when I had the new growth I would not moisturize my hair leaving it dry and brittle. I had severe breakage while transitioning even though I had the protective hairstyle like braids(which is only protective if you do it properly). Thanks to youtube I now understand the basics about natural hair. Although I don't always follow the ''rules'' in the exact way some natural sistas on youtube try to almost force them on their subscribers. Thank god that their are some helpful videos on youtube about natural hair and TWA's. I will keep thanking god for those videos. They helped me a lot through my journey. Although I sometimes have my moments of weakness, where I would just like to buy a relaxer and slap it on my head. O well just keep the natural vibe a live.

Did anyone say big chop!!!

Hey guys I've been away for a while but now I am back. The last month I saw a lot of videos on you tube about natural hair and moisturizing natural hair. So I decided to start my own healthy hair journey and I did the big chop. Unfortunately my camera broke down so I had to take pictures with my webcam camera. So the pictures are not really clear but I wanna let you know that I will start my journey today june 30th. My hair is in the front 6cm and at the back 3 cm. And I am curious about how long it will take me to grow my hair back healthy. I took out my braids and cut all the relaxer out my hair after that. I did kinda like a deep conditioning with the gel that I rubbed directly of an aloe vera plant on my head. In the next picture you can see me with my plastic cap on my head in another picture you can see the hair I cut of. I will make a regimen so that you can see what I will do with my hair on a daily and weekly base. I will also keep doing a weekly review on products although I do not intend to use a lot of products in my hair. I learned about protective hairstyles, deepconditioning, pre pooing, co-washes, moisturize and sealing. So I will have that coming soon. My sister and I who are both natural now will keep track of our hair growth and the healthiness of the hair I will use a braid regimen to grow my hair out. I got this regimen from the site www.growafrohairlong.com. It is an amazing site you can learn and read everything about growing you hair out with braids. so in the next few months I will keep you guys updated about everything that my sister and I are doing with our hair

Olive oil: Product review

In my last product review I told you about the shea butter spray. In this product review it's all about the natural oils. For now it wil be olive oil. I've tried olive oil and I am still using it so that is a good sign huh. I like the lightness of this oil it's not to heavy on your hair it smells well and it is affordable. I don't want to use to many products on my hair. Because I firmly believe that it's not the products that make your hair grow but the treatment. Although I am willing to try different products. Especially the natural stuff. I bought mine natural olive oil in the supermarket just around the corner. It's €5,- that's a nice price for me. I can use a bottle for 2 months so that's also easy. The olive oil makes your hair softer and gives your natural texture a really nice glow. I am not a huge fan of combing. I have really tight coils and my hair is prone to breakage especially when I comb. But the olive oil makes your hair easier to comb. And if you don't like to comb you can also fingercomb . Right now i dont't have to comb because I got a sew-in weave that is very itchy by the way.I might take it out this week. I don't know.

Ps: If you know any natural oils that is not to heavy on the hair please comment

Am I a fraud?

In my last post I told you about the box braids. Well I didn't take the braids. I got a very curly sew-in weave right now. My camera is broken so I can't post pictures yet. But I will post pictures soon. The thing that's bothering me is that I am still transitioning but the weave looks like my own hair. And I saw peeople looking at me like dang is that her own hair????!!! And I feel like a fraud right now. I have a question for all natural women. Do you sometimes wear weaves. And what kind of protective hair styles do you put in your hair. Is it mostly buns with your own hair. Or braids maybe wigs? I would also like to know what you think about women wearing weaves, because I've seen many films on you tube about women with fake hair. What do you guys think about this? Do you think women wearing weaves should be a non-issue?

New growth

I am sure some of you had this moment. That your hair was in braids for months and you thought you didn't had new growth. but when you wash it and blow dry your hair. Suddenly your like Heey I think i have some new growth. Well I had this moment. But unfortunately i had to cut some of my hair of because I still had some relaxers in it. I´m planning to rebraid my hair because I looked for several protective hairstyles including wigs, which I will never wear again because the fast, easy and stylish thing that they say about wigs doesn´t work for me. I have also thought about weaves. But everyone knows weaves can be itchy sometimes. And I have seen how some women look like when their weaves are not replaced in time. So I am having box braids again. I had marley braids in the past( Which didn't look nice on me anyway) cause the box braids where starting to bore me. But when i have my nice afro back. I will try the puffs and the braid/twist outs. And i can't wait till I can try the fro hawk. But for now it will be braids.
